Match Day pairs School of Medicine students with residencies

Emotionally, Match Day ranks right up there with graduation for students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s School of Medicine. Probably higher.

March 15 was the day the nearly 90 students from the Class of 2013, dressed in their finest, gathered outside of the school. Parents stood close to their sons and daughters who had toiled through six years of clinicals and classrooms to get to this moment in time.

A U.S. map on an easel hinted what this day was all about. These students, banded together by intense study, would be dispersed across the country for their residencies. Would they get to go where they wanted — their match?

The hoots and hollers, hugs and tears answered the question. Read what was inside their envelopes.
