UMKC’s weekly arts, sports and culture roundup

Every week, the University of Missouri-Kansas City offers an array of on-campus activities. It’s nothing new. UMKC has a long legacy of hosting countless culturally enriching events. These activities are part of what give UMKC a vibrant campus life, and make UMKC an arts and culture powerhouse. The influence of UMKC-based and UMKC-trained alumni extends well beyond the campus’ edge, so their activities are listed here as well.

Featured event:  Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company

An evening of beautiful dance and brilliant choreography – lyric, edgy, poignant and dynamic – will touch your heart and send your spirit soaring. “Uncommon Voices: The Women of Dance” spotlights the diverse works of women choreographers and special dances created for the women of WHCDC. “Uncommon Voices” features works by Jennifer Muller, Winifred Harris, Leni Wylliams, UMKC’s own Mary Pat Henry and DeeAnna Hiett, and others.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and 13 at White Recital Hall, James C. Olson Performing Arts Center, 4949 Cherry Street, Kansas City, Mo. For tickets, call 816-235-6222. Don’t miss it.
