The University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Department of Theatre presents “Playboy of the Western World,” by John M. Synge.

UMKC’s weekly roundup of arts, sports and culture

Every week, the University of Missouri-Kansas City offers an array of on-campus activities. It’s nothing new. UMKC has a long legacy of hosting countless culturally enriching events. These activities are part of what give UMKC a vibrant campus life, and make UMKC an arts and culture powerhouse. The influence of UMKC-based and UMKC-trained alumni extends well beyond the campus’ edge, so their activities are listed here as well.

Featured Event: “Playboy of the Western World”

The University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Department of Theatre presents “Playboy of the Western World,” by John M. Synge.

On the west coast of Ireland, Christy Mahon stumbles into Flaherty’s tavern. There he claims that he is on the run because he killed his own father. Rather than condemn his crime, the locals – at first – hail him as a hero.

This is a UMKC Theatre undergraduate play, directed by UMKC Theatre Chair Tom Mardikes.
