More than 2,000 Students Will Graduate in 12 Ceremonies

The University of Missouri-Kansas City will graduate more than 2,000 students at a series of Spring Commencement ceremonies Friday, May 15 through Wednesday, May 20.

Students in the Class of 2015 will graduate at 12 different ceremonies, divided among the university’s academic units. Commencement speakers will include Kansas City Mayor Sly James, Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander and UMKC alumna Mary Daly, senior vice president for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. The ceremonies and commencement speakers for the events are as follows:

  • The School of Pharmacy commencement is 1 p.m. Friday, May 15 at Swinney Recreation Center, 5030 Holmes St. Speaker will be School of Pharmacy alumnus Tim Mitchell.
  • The Henry W. Bloch School of Management commencement is 4 p.m. Friday, May 15 at Swinney Recreation Center. Speaker will be UMKC alumna Julie Wilson, senior vice president and chief people officer at Cerner Corp.
  • The School of Dentistry commencement is at 7 p.m. Friday, May 15 at Swinney Recreation Center. Speaker will be Dean Marsha Pyle.
  • The School of Education commencement is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16 at Swinney Recreation Center. Speaker will be Mayor Sly James.
  • The Conservatory of Music and Dance commencement is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Speaker will be Devon Carney, artistic director, Kansas City Ballet.
  • The School of Law commencement is at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at Swinney Recreation Center. Speaker will be Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander.
  • The School of Biological Sciences commencement is 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at White Recital Hall, James C. Olson Performing Arts Center, 4949 Cherry St.
  • The College of Arts and Sciences will have two ceremonies, both at Swinney Recreation Center on Saturday, May 16. The first is at 4 p.m. and the second is at 7 p.m. Mary Daly, UMKC alumna and senior vice president for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, will speak at both.
  • The School of Computing and Engineering commencement is 1 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at Swinney Recreation Center. Speaker will be David Westbrook, UMKC alumnus and vice president of strategy and innovation at Children’s Mercy.
  • The School of Nursing and Health Studies commencement is 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at Swinney Recreation Center. Speaker will be Lynette Wheeler, chief operating officer, Truman Medical Centers, Lakewood.
  • The School of Medicine commencement is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Music Hall, 301 W 13th St.
