FOX

Auditions for the popular singing competition TV series will be July 21

Wannabe superstars: mark your calendars for Monday, July 21. The popular singing competition television series, American Idol, is headed to the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus for auditions.

The American Idol Bus Tour is scheduled to stop in the Swinney Commons, 5030 Holmes Road, on UMKC’s Volker Campus.

“We’re excited American Idol contacted us with this unique and fun opportunity,” said Mel Tyler, UMKC Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “Not only could UMKC provide them with an iconic Kansas City setting with beautiful green space, but also a center of real performance talent. Our campus is home to the internationally acclaimed UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance.”

Auditions will be held from about 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. Participants must be between 15 and 28 years old. Top contestants might appear on Season 14 of American Idol, airing in 2015 on Fox. Check the American Idol site for other requirements, release forms and updated information about the bus tour.
