Students who are new to the online course environment may not be prepared for the differences between a face-to-face course and a class that is completely online. To assist students in making this transition as smooth as possible, staff of Information Access have created the UMKC Online Readiness Tool. This simple web survey is designed to measure student characteristics such as time management, organizational skills and computer proficiency and then to give students targeted feedback which will help them to understand their strengths and opportunities for improvement as an online learner. In addition, the department of Information Access has created a website which will provide students with links to a variety of UMKC specific tools to guide students as they navigate the online environment.
