Exchange 2010 Upgrade Coming Soon (Faculty and Staff Email)

Coming soon – Exchange 2010!

The University system is currently in the process of upgrading the Exchange email system to Microsoft Exchange 2010.  When the upgrade is complete, all UM campuses will use the same base infrastructure located in Columbia, with a disaster recovery site located in Rolla at Missouri S&T. UMKC retired its own email infrastructure and migrated to email service hosting in Columbia last year. Mailbox migration for some groups will start in early October and precede campus-by-campus over the following weeks.

The upgrade will bring some new features including a significant increase in mailbox quota – from 2 to 15 gigabytes.  This quota increase should aid in archiving efforts as Exchanges users will be encouraged to store messages in their mailbox rather than .PST files.  For Macintosh users, Entourage and Outlook 2011 are the preferred clients with Exchange 2010.

More to come!
