Dr. Angela Cottrell
Angela entered her role as UMKC's Director for Student Involvement in 2009. In her role, Angela helps support the areas of Communiversity, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, Leadership and Service, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Programs, Orientation, Student Activities, Student Government Association, and Student Organizations. Angela holds bachelor's degrees in political science and public administration from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Education in Higher Education from Iowa State University. Angela received her doctorate in higher education leadership, policy and organizations from Vanderbilt University in 2010.
When not at UMKC, Angela enjoys running, playing with her crazy black lab, Dexter, volunteering in the community, college football and basketball, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Brittan entered her role as UMKC's Assistant Director for Student Involvement in 2014. Brittan attended the University of Miami for her undergrad and the University of Iowa for graduate school, where she double majored in Communication Studies and Sociology and have a master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs. Favorite Greek Life Memory: Having the opportunity to travel to 40 collegiate chapters across the country as a Field Consultant for my sorority, Tri Delta.

Originally from Carl Junction, MO, Richard holds his bachelor's degree in Accounting and Computer Information Systems, and his Master's Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, both from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. In Richard's role, he oversees over 300 student organizations at UMKC, to aid in leadership development for student leaders and advisors.
Richard enjoys running, playing racquetball, spending time with his family, volunteering in the community, and watching college and professional sports.

LaShaundra is a proud native of Chicago, home of her Chicago Bears! LaShaundra received her bachelor's degree in criminal justice/juvenile delinquency from Missouri Western State University and her master's in higher education administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is a proud alumnus of both institutions and is excited about returning to UMKC to promote Roo pride. Her affiliations are with ACPA, Golden Key International Honour Society, and The Order of the Eastern Star. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, mentoring, traveling, spending time with loved ones, and motivational speaking.
Coordinator for LGBTQIA Programs & Services
Jonathan received his Bachelors degree in Communication Studies and Religious Studies from the University of Kansas and his Masters of Education degree in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis with an emphasis in Student Affairs from the University of Missouri. Jonathan is currently completing coursework towards his PhD in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis at Mizzou, where his research interests focus on student leadership, involvement, and the LGBTQI college student experience.
Originally from southeast Kansas, Jonathan is thrilled to be in the Kansas City region! Having been an active LGBTQIA student leader at KU and regularly involved with multiple LGBTQIA organization, Jonathan is excited to be UMKC's Coordinator for LGBTQIA Programs and Services.
Communiversity Program Coordinator
Rick received his Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Anthropology from the University of Northern Iowa. He has been working with the Communiversity program since 1978 and is still passionate about community education and offering a venue where people of all walks of life can share their skills and ideas with others. Outside the office, Rick can be seen riding the tractor on his 40 acres or playing jazz at local clubs or private parties. He is also an active volunteer for City in Motion dance theater.
Graduate Assistant for New Student and Family Programs; and Student Organizations
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Rachel is a current second year Graduate Student in the Higher Education Administration program. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Emporia State University in Rehabilitation Service Education and a minor in Leadership. She has worked diligently to pursue her master’s degree and will graduate May 2015. She currently assists in the planning and programming for Student Organizations and New Student and Family Programs with the OSI. Within the office she also leads Social Media for Orientation and for the office, as well as works on Service projects and CourtWarming programs.
