Step 1 – Complete and Submit UMKC Choral Audition Information Form – Graduate, Undergraduate, Community Member

Step 2 – Sign up for an audition time:

Community members, UMKC students and faculty – Open Audition on Sunday 8/21

No online signup, please e-mail John McDonald to RSVP and arrive at Grant Hall by 6:00pm on Sunday 8/21

Step 3 – Write down your audition time and arrive at Grant Hall 15 minutes prior



  • Prepare and sing a solo piece of your choice. Any style is fine, typically singers select classical or art song repertoire. An accompanist will be provided; please bring a score for the accompanist. Do not let the selection of a solo piece deter you from auditioning, e-mail John McDonald with any questions or concerns
  • Tonal memory exercises (we will play four random pitches and ask you to sing back those pitches on “la”)
