KSU + UMKC Summer Design Discovery Program 2014

Are you interested in one of the design fields, but don’t really know which one or what it entails? Here’s your chance to find out!

Kansas City Design Discovery is a one-week intensive studio-based program for students interested in the design professions of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Architecture/Product Design and Urban Planning/Design. If you are considering studies in the design professions, this is your opportunity to find out more about what design professionals do. You will learn the basics of design, start developing the skills needed for success and get the answers you are looking for about design education.

The studio is modeled like a college architectural design studio where students learn the basics of design through several introductory design projects, slideshows and discussions. A portion of the week will be spent visiting professional design offices and other important sites in the Kansas City area.

WHERE: Kansas City Design Discovery will take place at the Katz Hall, Room 101 (5005 Rockhill Road), on the campus of the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

WHEN: The program runs from Monday, June 9th to Friday, June 13th in Summer 2014. We will meet from 9am-3pm, with a break for lunch on-campus.

WHO: This course is for high school students or college students considering studies in architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture/product design and urban planning/design–or for those students who have an interest in the designed environment and would like an introduction to the concepts of this engaging field.

HOW: There are three ways to register. Course fees ($75) may be paid by check, VISA, MasterCard or Discover.  Please make checks payable to the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Registration closes June 1, 2014.  See further down in the post for information about scholarships!
